There are photos and then there are moments.
Ruby and Matthew contacted me weeks before their trip to Lake Atitlan where they mentioned they wanted to exchange their vows here and I was so thrilled to capture this beautiful moment in their lives! After coordinating through locations, times, and hotels- we decided to do the vow exchange on the beach of San Marcos in front of El Dragon Hotel, and upon meeting them- they told me they weren't going to have a wedding! So this was it! Just an officiant when they got back, and all of a sudden- I felt this immense gratitude- that they trusted me to capture this incredibly intimate moment of their lives.
We then went to the beach and I stood many steps away for them to have their moment, devoid of my presence. As a photographer, I always aim to tell stories- authentically and artfully. In this case, all I wanted to do was to give them a space to share their words, and their vows and for me to capture their expressions from afar. I definitely shed a few tears knowing what a beautiful moment this was- overcome with emotion over this momentous moment.
After their vows were exchanged (and all of us stopped crying lol), we walked along the shore to take a few more portraits and headed to the nature reserve in San Marcos to take some more portraits! We then got a late brunch together- a sweet celebration to a beautiful day!
